1.Show passion for the industry you want to get in to. The employer can train you up but they must see an eagerness to learn in your application.
2.Explain the reasons why you want the apprenticeship (Show your knowledge, and don’t just say ‘I want some money’)
3.Research the company and be sure you want to work for it. Looking for ‘About us’ pages, search for company directors, clients and look for examples of your potential employers work. Always do your research because a interviewer will also test your knowledge on company history.
4.Employers value voluntary work experience, so shout about it! Go out your way to succeed, get yourself out there, go out of your comfort zone. Even offer to do a trial if needs be, SHOUT about the face you’ve had work experince, SHOUT about what you did, SHOUT about if with passion!
5.Refer to the job description in your application, don’t be generic! The best interviews I’ve ever sat through are those where I referenced the job at hand, bring ideas to the table that the potential employer hasn’t though of. Act like you’re already thinking of ideas even though you aren’t employed yet, create materials and demos show them how good you are!
6.Don’t underestimate your digital expertise. You’ve grown up in a digital world. Now show your employer how those skills can benefit their company.
